Understanding gas

The Coal Authority is continuing to develop a wider understanding of the environmental impact of mine gas and is working with the Department of Trade and Industry to encourage its use. The

Authority has commissioned a report on gas flows and will make information available to interested parties on request.

Potential operators have been investigating the suitability of a number of Coal Authority venting sites and it is hoped that at least one will become operational before the end of the year.

Coventry sold

The site of the former Coventry Colliery is to have a new life as part of a proposed business park. Following decommissioning and demolition, the 33-acre site has been sold by The Coal Authority to a joint venture company between Morston Assets and Kingspark Developments.
