The Minewater Development Team is responsible for the delivery of the Authority’s world leading programme to remediate the impacts of minewater pollution from abandoned coal mines.
We are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join this Team and help deliver multiple high profile projects.
The role will include:
- Procurement and management of scoping, feasibility and design studies for minewater schemes
- Managing the Town & Country planning process
- Project management of multiple complex projects.
- Instruction, supervision and co-ordination of outsourced consultants and liaison with Environment Agency and SEPA
- Managing investigations into underground minewater regimes
- Liaison and communication with a series of high profile stakeholders.
- Management and instruction of outsourced contractors.
- Overall responsibility for a large geographical area.
The successful candidate will preferably have:
- A degree in mineral, mining surveying or an environmental discipline, with membership of a relevant professional body
- Demonstrable knowledge of health, safety and environmental issues together with experience of mining history and relevant legislation
- Proven experience of project, risk, financial and contract management
- Experience in the management and supervision of consultants, contractors and agents.
- Excellent team working and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Exceptional decision making and negotiating skills
- Drive and commitment to ensure the success of the programme.
