Vacancies - Project Engineer and Assistant Project Engineer

The Coal Authority was established by Parliament in 1994 and is a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) which reports to the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR).

Every year the Authority’s Public Safety and Subsidence Department receive over 1000 reported incidents relating to the historic liabilities of the Coal Mining industry. The incidents include ground and mine entry collapses, structural damage to buildings, mine gas and mine water problems. The Department also monitors and manages 45 spoil tips as well as other significant structures.

The Department requires highly motivated Project and Assistant Project Engineers to join its Engineering team based at the Authority’s Head Office in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

Ideal Candidates will:-

  • Have experience in the design and supervision of civil, structural or geotechnical engineering work
  • Have experience in contract management
  • Have a thorough knowledge of construction Health & Safety
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Project Engineer – (Salary range: £30k to £40k)

For the post of Project Engineer candidates should preferably have a civil, structural or engineering geology degree. Membership of an appropriate professional body is desirable.

Assistant Project Engineer – (Salary range: £20k to £30k)

For the post of Assistant Project Engineer candidates shall have a sound educational base in engineering (HNC/D or degree) and be working towards membership of an appropriate professional body.
