Subsidence Damage Claims
Claims for subsidence damage are made to the Authority in respect of coal mining subsidence damage under the framework of the Coal Mining Subsidence Act 1991.
Such damage may be typified by structural damage to properties or damage to land, and might begin with problems such as cracked plaster and sticking doors. Depending on where you live, responsibility for dealing with your claim rests either with a mining company, or the Coal Authority.
How Do I Make A Claim?
When you first notice damage, or reason to believe it has occurred, you should make a claim by completing a Damage Notice form
which should then be issued to the mine owner.
Your home will normally be inspected by the mine owner within a short time of yor claim being received. If further damage occurs at any time, whether or not a claim has been settled, you should inorm the mine owner as soon as possible. You will then be sent a further claim form which should also be completed as soon as possible
